James,
thanks for a hugely enjoyable tour - the photography advice on composition, settings and awareness alone made the day worthwhile but the historical anecdotes and your obvious love of Edinburgh made it special. I can highly recommend to DSLR and compact camera users alike. For Edinburgh residents (like me - 40 years) it's given me a fresh view of the city - for non-residents, it beats the hell out of sitting ona tour bus.
All the best,
Gordon

James,
Big Big Thankyou for todays tour. It was one of the best trips i've ever been on. You've gave me the inspiration to explore my camera in full manual mode and the tour was excellent. Lived in Edinburgh all my life and learnt loads of history from you today.
You even changed my out look on the newish house of parliament .. and how to look at everything around you, that you would not normally notice.
Cheers Mate

Thank you so much for a fantastic day. It was much more than just a photography tour and I would definately recommend this to anyone wanting to gain a bit of confidence in their camera or to find out a little bit about Edinburgh. I came away at the end of the day with the realisation that it really is not rocket science and James' relaxed, no nonsence approach makes it simple to understand the basic requirements to improve your techniques. 5.6/500!

What a wonderful tour. We were lucky to have great autumn weather, and it was a hugely enjoyable trip. My son, Simon (11) doesn't have a DSLR but he really enjoyed it as much as I did. I'd recommend this for anyone - only one watch out, put on comfortable walking shoes.

Thanks for a fantastic Edinburgh Photography Tour today - I learned so much and got some great shots, even with my non-DSLR camera. Easy to understand tips mean I won't be going back to Auto settings again!

The weather forecast wasn't looking good for today's tour and I wondered how it would go.....well, what can I say? It was just excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Come prepared, as James suggests, and you'll find that the weather really isn't a problem. James has a relaxed, keep it simple approach to photography which makes his instructions easy to understand and his genuine desire that you enjoy your photography and have fun with it comes across... my favourite part of the tour was the abstract session... I'm saying no more, you'll have to go on the tour to find out! It was great fun and I did get some really great photos from it.
I learned quite a bit about photography, and Edinburgh, on this tour, and will be looking at our city from a fresh perspective ...and will definately venture out with my camera in bad weather as well as good.
If you haven't been on the tour yet, I can thoroughly recommend it.
Thank you James

I have to say that this is a super tour. I have been into photography for over 30 years, and was delighted and educated by this tour. First and foremost it is enjoyable, it focusses on getting good pictures, no matter what camera you are using. Over four hours of good photography chat, any terms not understood are explained. Doesn’t matter if you are a pro or a complete beginner you can really enjoy this.
I’ll probably do it again sometime, it really is that much fun – and you get some good photo’s from your own fair hand.

My son gave me this tour as a birthday present, and it was great fun. James showed us the best angles from which to capture images, and how to improve our compositions, and encouraged us to “look at the big picture before taking the little picture” and to be aware of the photo opportunities all around us. I would recommend the tour for anyone who wants to improve their photography.

I am a semi-professional photographer and have been taking photographs for over 30 years. I recently went on the Edinburgh Photography Tour and I have to say that James has a visionary approach to photography. His instruction is easy to understand and his tips and advice on composition are the best I have ever seen. He has a friendly and relaxed demeanor and the 4 hours with him are a joy to experience. This is a unique tour of Edinburgh and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to become a better photographer. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY! Thank you James.

I recently went on the tour. I can’t recommend it enough. Not only does James Christie provide expert instruction in the art of photography, but his historical knowledge of Edinburgh is fantastic. My friends and family have all commented on how much improved my photographs are, since I went on the tour. I have to confess that I feel a lot better about my photography now. The tour is FANTASTIC value for money. If you are going to visit Edinburgh and you want to become a better photographer, you MUST go on this tour.

“Had a really enjoyable day yesterday doing Edinburgh Photography tour, where a Pro (James Christie) takes you a walk starting at Calton Hill. Photographers of all skill levels can participate, it is aimed at beginners. You don’t need a fancy camera, he’ll teach you to use your compact better, and how to improve your photography, or he’ll help you with your SLR, creating better compositions, what to look for and how to generally get better pictures. Money well spent for me.”

“I did this tour last week and it was absolutely fantastic, not only did James put a different spin on how to take photographs I learned new camera functions, techniques and how to achieve “that shot” you wish you could take. Even if you know Edinburgh well he will show you camera angles on subjects that really make you step back and think about your photography…and well worth the money!Think i’ll even go back soon.”

I really enjoyed the tour. It was more than I expected. I didn’t realise that you were going to tell me about the city as we walked around and I learned some more about it.
I’ve downloaded the photographs and I’m really pleased with them – thanks very much for helping me understand my camera better. I’m looking forward to putting into practise what you told me. I’ll always walk around now looking for anything out of the ordinary (or ordinary) that I’ve never been aware of before. In other words, opening my eyes a bit more.
Thanks for everything James, it was brilliant and it was so nice to meet you.
